Lookouts End Season As Co-Champs In Dramatic Fashion
Jonathan Rodriguez smacked a bottom of the 9th inning two-run walkoff homer, as the Chattanooga Lookouts beat Montgomery 3-2 Sunday night in the fifth and deciding game of their Southern League (AA) playoff series.
With that, the Lookouts and Pensacola share the Southern League title as co-champs. The league title series was cancelled because of Hurricane Irma.
Rodriguez smashed the first pitch he saw in the 9th off the scoreboard in left field. What ensued was a wild celebration for the Lookouts, and for the 11-hundred fans on hand at AT&T Field in downtown Chattanooga.
Rodriguez, who just a few days ago was named the Twins Minor League Offensive Player of the Year, called it the "hilight of my career." And he said he felt he was going to do something big in the game.
It's Chattanooga's second Southern League title in three years, all under the parent Minnesota Twins.
