The Tennessee Vols hit the court Thursday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, taking on Mississippi State in the second round of the SEC tournament... the Vols with 8 wins in the last 9 games, an overall 19-11 record, but still not a lock to get into the NCAA's big dance.
The Vols, who beat the Bulldogs by 15 points in their only regular-season matchup, fell behind 4-0 before going on a 12-0 run to take the lead.
It was 21-9 Vols midway thru the first half.
With Jordan McRae and Trae Golden leading the way, the Vols ran that lead up to 19 late in the first half.

The Vols were very lethargic in the second half and the Bulldogs made it a 9 point game with four-and-a-half minutes left.
But a win, is a win, and the Vols get the win... 69-53.
McRae scored 17 and had the play of the day... a steal followed by a 360-degree break-away slam.

Golden scored 15, Jarnell Stokes and Quinton Chevious 10 apeice for the Vols, who'll square off against Alabama in Friday afternoon's quarterfinals.
LSU crushed Georgia for about 35 minutes in Thursday's first second-round game.
Shavon Coleman and the Bengal Tigers built up a 23 point lead.
But Kantavious Caldwell-Pope scored 25 of his 32 points in the second half as the Dawgs reduced that 23 point deficit to 2 with a minute left, as LSU went 8 minutes without making a field goal.
Andre Stringer's 3-pointer with 36 seconds left wrapped this one up. LSU holds on for a 68-63 win.
The Tigers will play Florida in Friday's 1:00 quarterfinals... the Vols get Alabama at 3:30.
Thursday night's Vanderbilt/Arkansas winner gets Kentucky Friday, and the Texas A&M/Missouri winner takes on Ole Miss Friday.
