Redshirt sophomore quarterback Terrell Robinson has quit the Chattanooga Mocs, and no one seems to really know why.
Robinson, the son of former Mocs basketball player Vincent Robinson, played high school ball at South Pittsburg. He redshirted as a freshman at UTC, and was the backup to BJ Coleman last season.
When Coleman went down with an injury in the Georgia Southern game, T'Robb came off the bench and did a fantastic job of filling in... so fantastic that he earned Southern Conference co-freshman of the year honors, despite only playing in 4 and a half games.
T'Robb shared playing time with redshirt freshman Jacob Huesman in last Saturday night's season-opening loss at South Florida.
Head coach Russ Huesman, Jacob's father, said before practice today that the plan was to use them both again Saturday at Jacksonville State.
But Robinson didn't go to class today and didn't show up for practice. After practice coach Huesman said Robinson's decision came as a total surprise to him.
Huesman said the coaching staff tracked Robinson down and that he told them this isn't for him.
The coach said Robinson was not dismissed from the the team, that there were no discipline issues, no problems whatsoever.
I have not been able to track Robinson down for a comment.
