Chances are that before this past weekend, unless you were a big UTC golf fan, you didn't know who Steven Fox was. Today, the 21-year-old UTC senior is a "rock star" both here in Chattanooga, and across the country.

Fox, who's from Hendersonville, was still a bit bleary eyed, and still definitely on cloud 9 when he met with us this afternoon at UTC... one of his big concerns is that he's now two full days behind in getting into the classroom. Surely the professors will excuse the U.S. Amateur champion. MAN, that still sounds awesome.
Steven's name will go on the U.S. Amateur trophy, alongside names like Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods... and he gets to keep it for a year. Not a bad tradeoff for a couple of clubs he had to leave behind to go into the museum at Cherry Hills in Denver. The USGA asked Steven to leave behind the four-iron he used to make a remarkable shot in Saturday's semifinals, and the 60-degree wedge he was so precise with all week.
With the US Amateur title comes tons of perks.... like invites to play in next year's British Open, US Open, and the Masters, where Fox gets to play with defending champion Bubba Watson.
