Sideline Spotlight: Ryan Goodner Marches On
The high school marching band is one of the many sounds of football in the fall.
"The first football game, there's no other feeling like it in the world, Kristan Ware, Bradley Centrals Band Director said.
Behind every horn and every drum there's a story.
Ryan Goodner is a junior, a good student who's been through a lot.
"He's battled adversity in his life, but you would never know it because he's just happy go lucky, outgoing, positive, and encouraging, Ware said. I mean he never has a bad word to say."
Ryan's mother was killed in a car crash in 2006. It's been a difficult few years for Ryan and his family. This marching band is his escape.
"Music is a place I can go and relax and just be myself and lose thought of whatever is bothering me that day, Ryan said.
Ryans talent goes far beyond the bass drum. In concert band he plays tenor saxophone. Ryan can play 7 instruments in all.
"It gives me goose bumps to sit and listen to him. I've gotten tears in my eyes, Ryans father, Larry Goodner said. How proud his mom would be."
