The UTC Lady Mocs, who crushed Georgia Southern Saturday at the Roundhouse, welcomed the College of Charleston to town Monday night... coach Wes Moore's ladies looking to win their 20th straight game at the Roundhouse, and at least stay tied for second place in the Southern Conference.
That was a pretty good game for the first, eleven-and-a-half minutes. The Lady Mocs led 19-15 with 8:39 left in the first half. Between then and halftime, Ashlen Dewart, Kayla Christopher, Taylor Hall and the Lady Mocs outscored the Cougars 16-to-2, and led by 18 at the break. Christopher hit two three-pointers in the first half, becoming only the 4th Lady Moc ever with 200 career three-balls.
The Lady Mocs lead grew to 21 points early in the second half, then the almost unthinkable happened.
The Lady Mocs went ice cold, the Cougars heated up... and with 3-and-a-half minutes left, that 21 point lead was down to two.
But down the stretch, Dewart hit three layups and three free throws... Christopher made four free throws, and the Lady Mocs weather storm.
Dewart scored 26, Christopher 16, Taylor Hall gets 12 in the 64-53 win for the Lady Mocs, who are now 12-3 overall, 5-1 in the SoCon.
They'll play at Davidson Friday night... right now Davidson leads the women's standings, a perfect 4-0 in conference games. Lady Mocs Fight Off Charleston
