GPS Tops Baylor, Advances To Championship Game
GPS knew everything rode on the first game. It was an elimination game for them against their rival Baylor. If the Lady Raiders won, they would be crowned Division II AA champions.
But the Bruisers had something different in mind. Namely, the pitching of Madi Stanley. In a word, she was sensational.
Stanley went the distance, shutting Baylor out, and throwing a three hitter. In her work in the circle, Stanley struck out nine and walked only one.
In return, she got just enough offense to take this game to the end. GPS scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third.
Fast forward to the top of the 7th inning, Baylor's last at bat. Stanley struck out the first batter and was able to generate two pop flies.
The win set up a rematch for the championship. That game is underway right now.by John Madewell
