A rape suspect remains behind bars after a dramatic preliminary hearing this afternoon. At one point in testimony, the rape victim collapsed in the courtroom.
"I sat in my room for two days. I didn't eat nothing. Didn't drink nothing. Couldn't sleep, couldn't do anything." Traumatic and Brutal is how she described her encounter with 27-year-old Robert Bradshaw. Tuesday she took the stand, but testimony proved to be too much for her to handle.
After a recess, Chattanooga Detective Victor Miller took the stand. "The crime scene investigator used a light that showed there were substances on the bedding." Bradshaw's defense attorney then questioned the victim. The attorney brought up the victim's past as a drug addict and previous criminal record of filing a false police report in 2012 for a sexual crime.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Bales made his ruling. "She was so terrorized by this man having him sodomized her, rape her, and then sitting there telling her that he was going to kill her. Therefore on the charge of rape I'm increasing his bond to 350,000 dollars."
Judge Bales placed a no contact order to Bradshaw. Bradshaw also had a separate assault charge related to the case that was set for a later date, but his kidnapping charge was dropped.
