Watch: With seconds to spare, troopers save woman running on interstate

(Nevada Highway Patrol)

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) - Dramatic video captured on dash cameras shows two Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers running into traffic twice, to save a woman.

The quick-thinking NHP Troopers risk their lives to show the woman that hers, was worth saving.

In the first video, you can see Trooper Jared Truscello pull onto the shoulder of I-15 near Silverado Ranch.

It’s 2:30 in the morning. It’s still dark outside. Trooper Truscello spots a woman walking on the interstate. He stops his patrol car and gets out to talk to her. But she doesn’t want to listen. He starts screaming.

“Hey! Get off the road. Get over here!” he can be heard saying in the video.

“Excuse me?” she replied.

“Yeah, come over here!” Truscello shouts back.

"She eventually decided she didn't want to listen to me, so she ran into the travel lanes and stopped when two semi-trucks were coming,” said Truscello in an interview with News 3 outside NHP headquarters.

Seconds later, you can hear Truscello yelling, “Get out of the road! No! Get out of the road! Get out of the road!”

It’s a struggle to restrain the woman.

“Give me your arm! Give me your arm. Stop! I want you to sit right there,” he can be heard saying in the video.

While you can’t see Truscello pulling the woman to safety in the video, you can certainly hear the tense moments.

Then, it happened again.

Two months later, NHP Trooper Dustin Dunbar saves the same woman in another terrifying roadside rescue at the same spot on Interstate 15.

“You kind of accept the fact that you have to do what you have to do,” said Truscello.

Both Troopers are being recognized for their heroic actions. They have been awarded life-saving medals by the Department of Public Safety.

“It's the reason I joined up with Nevada Highway Patrol. I want to go out there and try and save lives and serve my community,” explained Truscello.

“If I could save one life in my career, that's good enough for me,” he continued.
