World War II bomber pilot receives French Legion of Merit medal
Don Seesenguth lives in Chattanooga now, but he grew up on a farm in Indiana. In 1942, at 20 years old, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He flew 30 missions in World War II, and 20 of those as a squadron pilot. NewsChannel 9 featured his story on the Price of Freedom last year.
On Monday, Seesenguth received the French Legion of Merit medal from the French Consultant in Atlanta. The award was for his work to help liberate France from the Nazis.
The video of the ceremony was provided by Randall B. Womack.
