Weapon found in Hamilton Co. student's car after students share concerns with officer
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. —
Concerned students led to the discovery of a weapon at one Hamilton County school Wednesday.
Hamilton County Department of Education (HCDE) spokesman Tim Hensley says East Hamilton Middle High School students saw something on social media.
Hensley says the students alerted a School Resource Officer (SRO) and an investigation was launched.
After the investigation, the SRO found a weapon in a student's car.
We have not yet been told what kind of weapon was found.
HCDE spokesman Tim Hensley says the student will be disciplined according to school policy.
Parents received both a text message and an automated phone call Thursday afternoon around 4pm notifying them of the situation.
According to Hensley, no one was ever in danger.
