The Humane Educational Society (HES) is investigating after animal control officers found at least seven dogs living in "horrible" living conditions in a Soddy-Daisy trailer Monday afternoon.

HES officers say they received an anonymous call about the conditions inside a trailer at the Golden Acres Mobile Home Park in Soddy-Daisy on Saturday.

Inside, animal control officers found dogs crammed in kennels, trash everywhere, feces on the walls, and a smell so bad they say they had to call the fire department to get protective face masks to enter.

Animal Control Officer Leslie Stokes says four of the dogs had been kept in one kennel.

Stokes said that the trailer was in even worse condition than the Soddy-Daisy home where she and other officers found three boys and 20 animals living in terrible living conditions.

"This one is, I feel, is worse than the Soddy call that I responded to a couple weeks ago," said Stokes.

The owner was not in the home when HES officers arrived Monday.

Stokes left a note on the door of the trailer, telling the owner that his dogs have been impounded.

The dogs have been taken to the Humane Educational Society shelter and are being examined.

Stokes says the owner will probably be cited to court.

"If we see anything like this, we are going to take it seriously and we'll do what we have to do to get the animals out," she said.

If you know of animals living in a situation not suitable for them, HES says you can call them anonymously to report it: 423-624-5302.
