Hamilton Co. Grand Jury indicts suspect wounded after shooting at police officer

UPDATE (Friday 9/15): The Hamilton County Grand Jury has indicted David Alan Wooten with several charges after an incident in which police say Wooten shot at a police officer who in turn shot Wooten on August 14th.

The Grand Jury has charged Wooten with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of reckless endangerment, and one count of evading arrest.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says their Fugitive Division arrested Wooten in Bradley County shortly before 1pm Friday.

Wooten's bond has been set at $40,000.

PREVIOUSLY (Friday 9/1): The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) have identified 44-year-old David Alan Wooten as the man they say shot at a police officer and was wounded in the incident on Rossville Blvd in mid-August.

The HCSO say Wooten was booked into Hamilton County Jail on Friday on unrelated charges.

PREVIOUSLY: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is now heading up an investigation after a suspect and police officer exchanged fire at a traffic stop on 5017 Rossville Boulevard Monday afternoon.

East Ridge Assistant Police Chief Stan Allen says both East Ridge and Chattanooga Police worked together to find the suspect on South Seminole Drive.

Allen says officers found the vehicle at a house on South Seminole. A gunshot victim was inside the house, and this person was arrested and later taken to a nearby hospital.

A Chattanooga Police spokesperson says police are investigating after a suspect and police officer exchanged fire at a traffic stop on 5017 Rossville Blvd Monday afternoon.

Chattanooga officers say they pulled over a driver they suspect stole a vehicle. The suspect opened fire on an officer.

The officer then fired back at the suspect.

Police say they found the suspect on the 800 block of South Seminole Drive with a gunshot wound.

The suspect was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital.
