A mother and father are dead after a shooting on East 13th Street.

Chattanooga police tell us a minor called 911 around 10:30 Sunday night and said his parents had been shot.

Police say George Dillard, 24, and Lakita Hicks, 25, were killed inside the home. Police say the couple's five year old son was the only eye witness to the murder. The child is now with extended family and police say he is physically unharmed.

According to a release, The Family Justice Center and the Chattanooga Police Department's Victims Services Coordinator are working to provide resources to support the five year old child.

"We have dual concerns here," said Chief Fred Fletcher with the Chattanooga Police Department, "finding the people who committed this atrocious act of violence and making sure we help the people who have survived it and are affected by it."

Dillard is a validated gang member. Fletcher says it's not clear if the violence was gang related.

Police are trying to figure out who is responsible. There is no suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call 423-698-2525.

There's also been a fund set up on GoFundMe to help the little boy who lost his parents:

UPDATE: On February 12th, the medical examiner released an autopsy report on both Hicks and Dillard:
