Chattanooga Police arrest man in connection with South Kelly Street murder

UPDATE (September 22nd):

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, Demetrius Buchanan turned himself in on Friday September 22nd Friday to the U.S. Marshals Service Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force in Chattanooga.

The TBI says Buchanan is at the Hamilton County Jail without bond. The agency placed him on its Top Ten Most Wanted List earlier this week.

Buchanan was wanted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Chattanooga Police Department First Degree Murder, Reckless Endangerment, and Employment of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

UPDATE (September 11th): Police issued a warrant for the arrest of 22-year-old Demetrius Buchanan for the murder of Langdon Strickland.

Buchanan's charges include first degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and reckless endangerment.

UPDATE: (Thursday): Chattanooga Police announced that Strickland has died from his injuries.

UPDATE: (9:30p.m.) Chattanooga police have identified 33-year-old Langdon Strickland as the man shot on the 500 block of South Kelly Street Monday afternoon.

Officers say when they arrived on the scene, they found Strickland with one gunshot wound.

Hamilton County EMS took Strickland to a nearby hospital. Officers say the wound was "life-threatening".
