Hixson man charged with rape, kidnapping
HIXSON, Tenn. —
Chattanooga Police are charging a Hixson man with aggravated domestic assault, rape, two counts of kidnapping and reckless endangerment after an incident at a Chattanooga home on North Germantown Road on Monday.
A police affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 9 says officers arrested 27-year-old Dayton Ogletree shortly after the incident.
Responding officers called in a SWAT team when police say Ogletree was refusing to come out.
The complainant said she had to jump out of a first-story window to escape him. She told officers that Ogletree was still inside the home with her 1-year-old son.
She told officers that Ogletree showed up at her house on Thursday, and had refused to leave. She says Ogletree strangled, beat, and raped her several times over the next few days.
She also told officers Ogletree threatened to kill her son if she called police, according to the affidavit, saying he was armed with a mallet and had a history of domestic violence. She said he wore a GPS ankle bracelet for an earlier conviction.
Police officers noticed strangle marks on the woman's neck, and bruises on her body. She was rushed to the hospital and treated.
Officers later subdued and arrested Ogletree inside the home, and recovered the child, who was placed in the custody of his grandmother.
Ogletree is now in the Hamilton County Jail.
