Hamilton Co. Commissioner releases statement about alleged extortion tape
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. —
We've received new details Friday after a Hamilton County Commissioner was charged with extortion.
Commissioner Tim Boyd represents District 8, and he's running against the current Mayor of East Ridge, Brent Lambert. According to TBI investigators, Boyd tried to force Lambert out of the race.
This week, the commissioner said he thought there may be a tape of the conversation. Now, Lambert will reportedly release an audio recording next week.
On Friday, Commissioner Boyd released a statement saying he looks forward to hearing this tape:
“We all look forward to hearing the tape in context. I am, and I know my legal team will. Court assures the truth will come out. Meanwhile, we have an election to win.”
Boyd was booked into Hamilton County Jail and quickly released on bond on Wednesday morning.
