Good Samaritans help police subdue man going for officer's weapon during struggle
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Two Good Samaritans at Zanies Comedy Club helped a Metro Police Officer when a man allegedly tried to grab the officer's weapon during a struggle.
According to the arrest affidavit for 40-year-old Rayburn Hall, police were flagged down by Zanies security on Wednesday. Security staff told the officer Hall forced his way into the club without paying and sat down at a table.
The officer entered the club and asked Hall to leave. When Hall refused, the officer grabbed Hall by the left arm to escort him out. That's when Hall grabbed the officer around the head, and according to witnesses, tried to remove the officer's service weapon from his holster.
The officer says Hall stated "It's gunna (sic) take more than you" during the struggle. A witness and a patron of the club helped the officer take Hall to the ground, allowing the officer to handcuff Hall.
Hall has been charged with assault of an officer, theft of services, resisting arrest, and trespassing.
