Downtown Chattanooga church prepares kids for back to school
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —
A church in dowtown Chattanooga is helping children in need stay prepared for the school year.
World Restoration Center Church held the "Back to School Bash" Saturday for the seventh consecutive year.
Dr. E Jonathan Thomas with the church says the event is meant to help the entire neighborhood, not just the children.
"It was just a bad situation I said we gotta do something about it, so whatever resources we have lets take that and make sure we help somebody else," said Dr. Thomas.
The church handed out backpacks filled with school supplies to dozens of children, in addition to offering free health screenings, haircuts, food and games.
