Vote now: Brian's wish to throw a BBQ luau for Make-A-Wish families

UPDATE from EPB:

"Thanks to the strong support of the community and local television celebrities, EPB’s debut program Neighbors Helping Neighbors raised $12,000+ to support Make-A-Wish East Tennessee’s mission of granting the wishes of children living with life threatening conditions.

While all proceeds from the fundraising effort will go to providing the wishes of local children, EPB will cover the cost of granting all three of the “celebrity wishes” developed by local television celebrities to help raise funds for Make-A-Wish East Tennessee.

“EPB is proud to support Make-A-Wish East Tennessee and the mission we share of improving quality of life in our community,” said EPB marketing manager Beth Johnson. “This fundraiser was a perfect fit with our Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative to support our community’s great non-profit organizations.”

“We are thankful for the outpouring of love and generosity from our community,” said Make-A-Wish East Tennessee director of development Stephanie Wilkins. “We are also grateful for the one-of-a-kind support that we have received through our partnership with EPB and Chattanooga’s local television affiliates.”

To help promote community engagement, WRCB anchor Cindy Sexton, WDEF meteorologist Chip Chapman and WTVC meteorologist Brian Smith designed their own wishes and participated in a friendly on air and online competition with the common goal of supporting Make-A-Wish East Tennessee.

EPB will grant Sexton’s wish to send childhood cancer survivor Joey Cope and his family to Disney World, Chapman’s wish to give all children affected by cancer a party at the Chattanooga Zoo, and Smith’s wish to give all local Make-A-Wish East Tennessee families a poolside Luau with renown BBQ grill master Steven Raichlen.

“It is amazing to see firsthand how a wish can truly change a medical outcome and quality of life for a child with medical challenges and their family,” Wilkins said."

The Wish:

Hello all. Make-A-Wish of East Chattanooga approached me about coming up with a with that I thought would be different, something that might be out of the box and could create a fun atmosphere for all Make-A-Wish families.
There were thousands of possibilities, but what if we were able to bring in a well know grill master to cook up something special, while at the same time throwing an incredible luau!

We reached out to my grilling idol, Steven Raichlen. Chances are you either have seen one of his numerous books, have some of his equipment or spices or watched one of his many shows.
He has agreed to help give an afternoon of fun, escape and happiness! We plan to use a great pool, have music, and of course BBQ! And the last thing on the minds of wish families will be worry!

But we can do this together. We need votes. Even if all who read this donated $1 with the vote, we can do this...we can make an afternoon to remember!

Heck, even Mr. Raichlen himself is donating back!

What we can do:

Its simple, just click the link below. You can see the donate button. Choose an option or choose "other" to donate $1.

And please share with your friends. Just about every one of us has been touched by cancer in some way. Lets give these children and their families one heck of a luau!
