The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in the theft of a stove and the attempted theft of a refrigerator from an area department store. DPD spokesman Bruce Frazier says the suspect was recorded by a store employee.

Frazier says the incident happened on August 28th at approximately 3:30 pm at the Sears store at Walnut Square Mall.

Frazier says the suspect entered the store with a red hand truck and loaded a Kenmore refrigerator and tried to wheel it out of the store without paying for it.

Unfortunately for the thief, the refrigerator wasn’t able to fit through the outer doors to the store. The suspect gave up and left in a maroon pickup truck with tinted brake lights and no license plate.

While the suspect was unsuccessful in stealing the refrigerator, store employees reported that he did steal a stove from the store two days earlier which wasn’t reported to police. That theft happened on August 26th at about 1:30 pm.

A store employee recorded video of the suspect and his vehicle. He has dark hair and was wearing a maroon shirt and blue jeans.with gray Nike sneakers.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to please call Detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, extension 9189.
