North Georgia Woman Hits Lottery for Third Time
Chickamauga woman cheers $142K win; 3rd win since 2000
A Walker County, Ga. woman has hit the Georgia Lottery for a big check for a THIRD time. Laura Mullis of Chickamauga won a $142,908 jackpot prize playing Fantasy 5 from the Oct. 4 drawing.
Mullis, 71, matched all five winning numbers, and claimed her prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Dalton. She is one of two jackpot winners from the Oct. 4 Fantasy 5 drawing.
Kangaroo Express #3511, 209 Lee and Gordon Mill Road in Chickamauga, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket. The second jackpot winning ticket was sold in Palmetto.
“I found out Saturday morning when I called the (Georgia Lottery Player Information) hot line,” she said. “I was shocked. I hung up the phone and said, ‘This can’t be true!’”
Mullis won her first Georgia Lottery prize in 2000 with a $49,255 win. With her windfall, the grandmother of two purchased a new truck, paid off her home mortgage and retired from working in customer service. She also won a $1,000 Georgia Lottery prize in 2006.
In addition to her two grandchildren, Mullis has two adult daughters. The lucky winner has not made plans with her latest windfall.
“I may do a bit of investing,” Mullis shared.
Winning numbers from the Oct. 4 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 2-12-20-22-28.
