Two years ago, LIFE FORCE made the decision to raise the bar and require all of its flight crew members who have been with the program more than one year to obtain board certification in critical care transport medicine.
Erlanger is pleased to announce the entire crew has accomplished this goal. Twenty-one flight nurses and twenty-two paramedics have obtained certification in either flight registered nurse (CFRN) or flight paramedic (FP-C).
“This is quite an accomplishment for the Erlanger Health System and the LIFE FORCE program,” said Robbie Tester, LIFE FORCE Program Manager. “We are now the only program in the four-state region and one of a few programs in the country that have set this standard of excellence.”
LIFE FORCE has four helicopter bases: Chattanooga, Tenn., Sparta, Tenn., McCaysville, Ga. and Calhoun, Ga. The crew is comprised of a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic at each base who provides on-the-scene and in-flight critical care treatment such as trauma service, heart and stroke intervention, cutting edge pediatric care and high risk labor and delivery services to the patients in the helicopters. The support team for the program also consists of communication specialists, aviation and maintenance technicians and an educational, outreach and leadership team.
