The Passage West - Ross's Landing Walk
Wednesday, February 6 2013, 04:39 PM EST
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to participate in a free program on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Participants are encouraged to meet at Outdoor Chattanooga (200 River Street) in North Shore Chattanooga at 3:00 p.m. for a two hour, 1.8 mile walking tour that will discuss the importance of Ross’s Landing before and during Indian Removal.
Have you ever walked down to the Tennessee River front in Chattanooga and noticed a small park with words “The Passage” inscribed on the one of the walls? This park marked the approximate location of Ross’s Landing, a place where thousands of Cherokee Indians disembarked to traverse the often dangerous route they came to call The Trail of Tears. Learn more of the history associated with Ross’s Landing and Indian Removal by participating in this educational walk.
As a reminder, comfortable, supportive footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather, and water are recommended for this program.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Malcolm-Jamal Warner won't be anything like a Cosby kid in his next role. He'll be one of the guest stars on the FX biker drama "Sons of Anarchy." PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN'S WILL
NEW YORK (AP) -- Philip Seymour Hoffman had said he didn't want his children to be "trust fund kids." And his accountant says that's why the actor turned aside the suggestion that he set up a trust fund for his three children. The New York Post says a court-appointed lawyer for the children interviewed the accountant for the actor, who died earlier this year of a drug overdose. The accountant says Hoffman wanted his fortune, estimated at $35 million, to go to his longtime partner and the children's mom, Mimi O'Donnell.
"TYRANT" PRODUCTION MOVED FROM TEL AVIV
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- The current unrest in the Middle East has caused production of the FX's series "Tyrant" to pull up stakes. The show had been shot in Tel Aviv. But producer Howard Gordon says the show has since moved to Istanbul to resume production. Gordon tells a TV critics panel in California that when Tel Aviv began drawing missile fire, "people were running into bomb shelters." And he says while people on the set didn't feel "physically threatened," the atmosphere "was not conducive to shooting." The last two episodes of the show's first season will be shot in Turkey.
FORMER "50 SHADES" ACTOR AWAITS RESULTS
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- The actor who had the original lead for the movie version of "Fifty Shades of Grey" says he still believes in the film, even though he won't be in it. Charlie Hunnam says he's "really excited" to see the movie and is "really, really curious" to see how it turned out. Hunnam dropped out of the "Grey" project a month after he landed the role. He says he believes his replacement, Jamie Dornan, is "probably a lot better looking and a lot smoother" than he is. Though Hunnam says he wouldn't mind having his audition tape be part of a DVD extra for fans of the movie. The movie is due out next Valentine's Day.
