KANYE FOR PRESIDENT?
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- He's rich, popular, polarizing -- and certainly not afraid to speak his mind. And he wants to be president. It isn't Donald Trump -- it's Kanye West. The rapper ended a rambling statement at the VMAs last night with the declaration that he wants to run for president in 2020. West was on stage to accept the Video Vanguard Award -- and to try to explain the complexity that is Kanye. After trying to apologize for snatching the mic from Taylor Swift six years ago, he went on to try to justify his actions. He even ripped MTV for promoting Swift's presenting the Vanguard Award to him -- saying it was just done to boost the ratings. He said he will continue to speak what he sees as the truth -- but that he was no politician. But he ended with his declaration that he wants to run for president.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Another wardrobe malfunction has caused controversy. It happened at the VMAs last night. Toward the end of the show, host Miley Cyrus was trying to do a wardrobe change while doing a voice bump to a commercial break. The camera was on her -- but she didn't appear to have a working microphone. When a stagehand came to help out, she moved the curtain back and when Cyrus leaned back toward the camera, viewers got a glimpse of her breast -- nipple and all. After a scramble, she was heard asking if her "tit was showing" -- and it was. MTV says the gaffe will be edited for the West Coast version of the show and for any future showings.
NEW YORK (AP) -- It's the summer of Compton. The N.W.A movie "Straight Outta Compton" has won the box office race for the third weekend in a row. The movie joins "Jurassic World" as the only movies to top the box office list for three straight weekends this summer. The numbers -- $13.2 million over the weekend and $134.1 million in its three weeks in theaters. There's a surprise in the number two slot: with the church-based drama "War Room" finishing in the runner-up spot. Number three is "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation." One of the biggest flops of the weekend was the new movie "We Are Your Friends." The electronic dance music drama starring Zac Efron took in less than $2 million in its debut weekend. That's one of the lowest weekend openings ever for a film to play in wide release.
UNDATED (AP) -- He was responsible for some of the most scream-worthy scenes ever on the big screen. And while Wes Craven will be remembered for his touch with horror movies, it wasn't the only he did. Craven has died. The writer and director died yesterday at age 76. He'll be best known for movies like "Nightmare on Elm Street" with razor-fingered villain Freddy Krueger and "Scream." Craven once said: "Horror films don't create fear, they release it." Craven also directed the 1999 drama "Music of the Heart," which earned Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination.

YOUNG BROADWAY STAR KYLE JEAN-BAPTISTE DIES IN FIRE ESCAPE FALL
NEW YORK (AP) -- He was just 21. But Kyle Jean-Baptiste has already made his mark on Broadway. He was the first African-American to play the role of Jean Valjean in "Les MisTrables." And he was the youngest to play the role. Jean-Baptiste is gone. He died Friday in a fall from a fire escape in Brooklyn, New York. Police say Jean-Baptiste was sitting on a fourth-floor fire escape of an apartment with a woman when he stood up, slipped and fell backward to the ground. ON-AIR SHOOTING - MEMORIAL
ROANOKE, Va. (AP) -- There was a memorial service yesterday for the TV crew that was shot to death while on the air last week. The service for 24-year-old reporter Alison Parker and 27-year-old cameraman Adam Ward was held at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke. In his remarks, WDBJ-TV General Manager Jeff Marks spoke about prioritizing mental health treatment. Ward and Parker were killed by a former co-worker Wednesday. "SISTER WIVES" LAWSUIT
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The family featured in "Sister Wives" says the Supreme Court ruling that legalizes same-sex marriage should be a benchmark for all consensual adult relations. Kody Brown and his four wives are in court, claiming that there should be no laws against polygamous marriages. A federal judge has struck down key parts of Utah's law banning polygamy. But Utah's attorney general is appealing, saying the law prevents abuse of women and children. Unlike the same-sex marriage case, the Browns aren't seeking full legal recognition of polygamous marriages.
